Tempeh bacon

A vegan bacon made from tempeh, perfect to add a smoky touch to your dishes. Recipe by @silvestres.uy.

Ingredients

  • 200 g soy tempeh
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 1/2 tbsp sweetener (coconut nectar or agave syrup)
  • 1 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

Mix all the marinade ingredients in a bowl.

Slice the tempeh into thin strips, then cut each strip into smaller slices.

Place the tempeh strips in a shallow dish or container and pour the marinade over them. Brush each strip well and let it rest for at least 10 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 210°C (410°F). Place the strips on a baking tray, brush them with more marinade, and bake for 10 minutes. Flip them over, brush again, and bake for another 10 minutes.
